I am interested in the psychology of the genocidal mind - how ethnic myths, stereotypes and urban legends become part of one's social identity and belief system.
Relying on clinical, developmental and social psychology research, I've come to believe that in a genocide, some of us will become perpetrators, some will become rescuers and the vast majority will be swayed by social forces or bystand and do nothing.
The premise is that most people are underdeveloped emotionally, and consequently are vulnerable to cultural forces that promise strength e.g. fascism, when they are scared.
